A: Twin Lakes maintains a camper-to-counselor ratio of 1 counselor to every 5 campers in a cabin. Each of our activity sites has a ratio of 1 counselor/support staff to every 3 campers.
A: Absolutely! Twin Lakes’ “Buddy Request” policy allows one mutual request between two campers. If more than two campers are listed, we’ll do our best to place them together but cannot guarantee it. If campers cannot be in the same cabin, we try to place them in the same color group so they can spend most of the day together. Buddies may be no more than one year apart in age.
A: No problem! Many campers come to Twin Lakes each year without a buddy. Within just 5–10 minutes of meeting their cabin mates, most campers have already started forming new friendships. We’ve found that friendships built through shared camp experiences create a special bond that can last a lifetime.
A: Cabin assignments are made by our office about a week before campers arrive. We consider age, buddy requests, and cabin availability to make the best placements for each camper. Twin Lakes reserves the right to assign cabins in a way that supports both the camper and the camp program. Cabin assignments cannot be changed at check-in, but we work carefully to ensure a great fit for everyone.
A: One of the best things about the Twin Lakes camp program is that every camper gets to try every activity—no picking and choosing! Each day, campers rotate through two different activities, ensuring that by the end of the week, they’ve had the chance to experience it all.

A: We have a doctor on site each week, supported by a team of staff dedicated to caring for our campers. The doctor oversees all medications, which are usually given at mealtimes and bedtime unless otherwise directed. All prescription medications should be in their original container, per Health Department regulations.
If you have any questions or concerns about your camper’s health or medications, please feel free to call our office—we’re happy to help.
A:We understand that homesickness is real and should be taken seriously. At Twin Lakes, we take a multi-level approach to support campers through these situations. Our staff are trained to recognize early signs of what we call “Code Blue.” When a camper begins to show signs of homesickness, counselors step in to encourage and guide them, helping turn their sadness into excitement about all that camp has to offer.
If a camper does not respond positively, we will contact parents to inform them of the situation and seek guidance on the best way to support their child.
A: Yes, of course! While electronic communication with campers is not allowed, we do encourage sending emails through our one-way email service TL Mail. New for 2026 and guess what?? IT’S FREE! These emails are printed daily and delivered to campers along with the regular mail.
We also highly encourage parents to send pre-addressed, stamped envelopes and stationery so campers can write letters home. And lastly, we have postcards and postage available for purchase at the camp store.
A: One of our top priorities at Twin Lakes is safety. To help ensure a safe swimming environment, all campers are required to complete a swim assessment. Parents can note in the camp profile if their child is not a strong swimmer.
The swim assessment requires campers to swim the width of the pool (approximately 45 feet) without touching the bottom or showing signs of struggling, staying on top of the water rather than swimming underneath. Campers who are unable to meet this standard will be provided with a life jacket for use in the pool.
At the lake, all campers and staff are required to wear life jackets. Our goal is never to single out campers who need extra support. Lifeguards and staff work to encourage every swimmer, and sometimes staff wear life jackets themselves to model safety.
If you have any questions or concerns about swimming at Twin Lakes, please don’t hesitate to call our office. Phone: 601-845-6858
A: Our counselors and Healthcare Team work together to ensure that any camper who has an accident is cared for in a sensitive and discreet manner. The Healthcare Team is prepared to wash soiled clothing and remake beds as needed, always addressing these situations while campers are away from the cabin.
If your camper is more comfortable sleeping in disposable underwear, our staff can assist with discreet changing and disposal to help them feel at ease.
