A one week program for 16 year old’s to learn the rhythms of camp!
Purpose of Counselors in Training (C.I.T.s)
The primary purpose of Counselors in Training (C.I.T.s) is to gain hands-on experience at Twin Lakes preparing them for future roles as counselors. This includes:
- Skill Development: Learn essential counselor skills through hands-on involvement in camp activities and camper supervision.
- Leadership Experience: Develop leadership qualities by participating in various camp roles and responsibilities.
- Mentorship: Benefit from the guidance of experienced counselors, gaining insights into effective communication, problem-solving, and camper engagement.
- Spiritual Growth: Deepen their faith and understanding of the gospel and how to serve faithfully with the gifts God has given them.
- Community Building: Foster relationships with peers and campers, promoting teamwork and being a part of the Twin Lakes culture.
Responsibilities for Counselors in Training (C.I.T.s)
- Cabin Care: Help take care of a cabin of campers, ensuring their needs are met by coming alongside the assigned counselors.
- Shadow Counselors: Learn by observing and shadowing experienced counselors to gain insights into their roles and best practices.
- Rotate Activity Support: Assist in various camp activities, helping to ensure each session runs smoothly while engaging with campers in different settings. This experience will also allow C.I.T.s to explore different activities to identify what aligns best with their interests and strengths for future roles as a counselor.
- Evening Cabin Time: Assist during evening cabin activities by helping counselors get their campers ready for bed before returning to the C.I.T. cabin.
- Check-In Assistance: Help with camper check-in, welcoming parents and campers upon arrival, and ensuring a smooth transition into camp life.

Overnight Week 1 June 1st – June 6th (Monday-Friday) Horse Activities
Overnight Week 2 June 8th – June 13th (Monday-Friday) Horse Activities
Overnight Week 3 (Mystery Week) June 22nd -June-28th (Monday-Saturday)
Overnight Week 4 (Fireworks Week) June 29th – July 5th (Monday-Saturday)
Overnight Week 5 (Adventure Week) July 6th – July 12th (Monday-Saturday)
Overnight Week 6 July-13th – July-18th (Monday-Friday)
Counselor in Training applicants are required to complete an application and interview process. Twin Lakes reserves the right to accept or deny applications for the C.I.T. program. There are a limited amount of spots available throughout the summer.
Expectations for Counselors in Training (C.I.T.s)
- Obedience and Cooperation: C.I.T.s are expected to follow the guidance of camp leadership and work collaboratively with fellow staff.
- Teamwork: Demonstrate a sincere effort to be a considerate and supportive team member, contributing to a positive camp environment.
- Spiritual Growth: Engage in both private and group devotional time to deepen your relationship with Christ.
- Stewardship: Exhibit good stewardship in your use of time, speech, appearance, health, and care for the Twin Lakes facility.
- Responsibility: Understand that your primary duty is the welfare and care of campers, performing assigned tasks with diligence and care.
- Availability: Be present and ready to contribute at all times, ensuring you’re a reliable resource for both campers and fellow counselors.
- Role Model: Set a strong example for campers and others by living a life that honors God in your actions and attitudes.
- Adherence to Policies: Know and strictly follow all camp policies, including the prohibition of cell phone use while at camp.
By embodying these expectations, C.I.T.s will enhance their own growth while positively impacting Twin Lakes.
